Woke up and hobbled out of bed this morning. The swelling and pain only got worse. In fact, there was more bruising appearing around the ankle. My sister was nice enough to accompany me down to Changi General Hospital to get my X-ray done. I was really hoping nothing too serious happened to the foot.
Thankfully there weren't too many patients around and I think all in all we spent about 2hrs at the hospital inclusive of travelling time. This is probably my first outpatient treatment at a hospital, not that it's anything to be proud of. Upon arrival, I was plonked into a wheelchair and wheeled from room to room, first getting my blood pressure and general health screening done, then off to another room for consultation and analysis of the foot injury. Next up, the X-ray room and back to the consultation room for my X-ray analysis. That's where my worse fears came true...
Apparently I suffered a minor fracture to my right fibula bone. There's a small loose tail bit sticking out and the doctor advised that they do a cast to help stabilise the ankle. I'll have to do a follow up confirmation X-ray in 10 days coz it's still not very visible. Only time will tell... I'm still praying hard that this is just the worst of it all and that there's nothing more to it. Looks like I'll be out of action for at least a month, which really worries me coz that means no biathlon training for me at all!
On the other hand, I've been given 10 days of hospitalisation leave. My dad thinks I'm crazy coz I said I wanted to go back to work sometime this week. There just seems to be too many things to do and honestly, this isn't the best time to take leave coz of all the project going on at the moment. Not to mention, I get restless easily. Not only do I have to stay home, the limited mobility sure makes it all the more miserable. Friends who know me well will fill you in on my usual pace of life and even my walking speed is way too fast for them to keep up. So yea... guess I'll have to suck it up and hang in there.
